Maria Tsaptsinos
...started playing table tennis during the last year of her primary schooling and then joined Kingfisher club whereas she trained with Brian Halliday and later had weekly sessions with Gareth Herbert. Then she was invited to Lilleshall and Sheffield for the Youth Development Squad and consequently to the International Youth Squad. Represented England in various tournaments since 2012 and participated at the Youth Europeans as a Caded and Junior. In 2015 the first call for a senior cap came for the Europeans and Table Tennis Commonwealth.
Maria currently is a scholar at University of Nottingham studying Geography.
Her other interests include football, music and spends time socialising on facebook.

Schools Sport Personality of the year - Reading
Last night, at the Hilton Hotel in Reading Maria was awarded the Schools Sport Personality of the Year for Reading in recognition of her achievements (two national titles & representing England). The event was also attended by Brian Halliday, Peter Charters and Alison Broe together with another 200 guests including Sir John Madejski.

Sussex 2*
Twelve girls competed for the Sussex tournament which run similar to the master series. There were two groups and Maria had to face tin tin Ho (loosing 3-0 in a game that could had gone either way), Emma torkington (3-1 loss first game, Maria was late arriving so she did not have any practice), Emma tovey and Ella patel (Maria won 3-0 both games )
Notably at the group stage a great win against tressa armitage by 3-1!
Then she had to face the welsh sisters phillips losing 3-0 and 3-1 and she beat yuki 3-1 to end 4th overall, two places above her initial seeding. Tin tin was the overall winner and the surprise was that yolanda king failed to qualify from her group.

England selection
Maria has been selected for the six nations international tournament taking place at the isle of man early march of this year (9-11). Maria will be representing the cadets together with lois peake.

East midlands 4* juniors
Following three straight wins at the group stage notably one against Beth Roberts from Wales Maria had to face ashley givan from Ireland. Maria won the fifth in a very entertaining and hard hitting game which contributed in Maria looking tired against Isobel Ashley at the quarter finals. Maria lost in straight sets.

Maria reached the final for the cadet girls dropping one set on her way ( to Beth Roberts from Wales). After a hard fought final she lost to tin tin Ho 3-2.

National rankings
Following today's ETTA publication of national rankings Maria has made the top-10 for the junior girls for the first time. In particular she has moved to the 9th place.

Following the Portugese Youth Open tournament Maria now has an international ranking for Girls Under15s, position 75 with 1181 points. (863rd position for Women)
