Unbeaten Premier Division Champions: Womens British League

Over the weekend of 15-16 of February, at the Doncaster Dome the second weekend of the Womens British League took place. The Ormesby team, comprising of Karina Le Fevre, Chloe Whyte and Maria started the competition two points ahead from the closest rivals. At the end of the first day and after beating Byng Hall (6-0); Topspin Sports (5-1) and Halton TTC (5-1) the team were five points ahead with two rounds to go. Despite that they were already champions in waiting the girls continued their streak by winning 5-1 against Burton Uxbridge and Draycott East Midlands I with the same score.
Maria, overall, won 15 out of 18 games. The strength of the team is demonstrated that the three girls occupy the first three positions on individual averages, with Karina being top and Chloe and Maria joint second.

The highlight of the week as Maria is concerned is her dramatic 3-2 win over Emma Vickers, ranked 6th Senior Woman in England, for the first time. The game took place on Sunday afternoon and it was the opening game for the tie between Ormesby and Darycott. Maria took the first set 11-7 with Emma making it one all with an 8-11 win. For the third set Maria was 9-6 up with an easy opportunity to increase the lead but what she missed the table. The experienced Emma took the opportunity to come back strong and win the set 12-14. Maria quickly equalised with an 11-9 win to set up a fifth set decider. The girls kept winning one point each in the beginning until an Emma burst found her 10-7 up. Then Maria's quality of never giving up and a timely time out by the Alan Ransome the coach found Maria making it 10-10 and winning the game 14-12.
