Maria Tsaptsinos

...started playing table tennis during the last year of her primary schooling and then joined Kingfisher club whereas she trained with Brian Halliday and later had weekly sessions with Gareth Herbert. Then she was invited to Lilleshall and Sheffield for the Youth Development Squad and consequently to the International Youth Squad. Represented England in various tournaments since 2012 and participated at the Youth Europeans as a Caded and Junior. In 2015 the first call for a senior cap came for the Europeans and Table Tennis Commonwealth.
Maria currently is a scholar at University of Nottingham studying Geography.
Her other interests include football, music and spends time socialising on facebook.

National Cadet Champion


Maria was very impressive during the cadet national competition that took place at Hatfield dropping two sets on her way to be crowned the national champion.At the group stage she had 3 straight wins all with the same score (3-0) against  Beth WILSON (Dv)Denise PAYET (Mi)Mimi BLAND (He). 
At the next round she had a comfortable win against Kayleigh Forster (Cv) with 3-0 (3 8 6), a quarter final win with the same score (9 4 5) against Amy Humphreys (He).
At the semi final stage Lois Peake (Sx)gave a challenge to Maria but at the end Maria won on the fifth (-13 4 1 -11 6) for a final against Tin Tin Ho the number 1 seed and current holder of the title. Maria, following a tremendous game of table tennis from both competitors, came on top with a 3-0 win (14 9 7).

Also Maria was presented with the Mike Watts award for the girl who accumulated most ranking points in a year.
