Second place at the Junior Masters

Receiving the silver medal
Over the weekend the mentally and physically demanding Junior Masters took place at Grantham College. For the tournament 12 of the top junior girls are invited and they each play against each other over the two days.
Maria finished with 9 wins and 2 losses and finished with the silver medal. Both losses came on Sunday, one against Emily Bolton and the other against Tin Tin Ho. On round 10 Maria was playing against the in-form Emma Torkington and while trying to reach the ball and return she slipped and bruised her playing arm elbow. After the ten minute medical break Maria continued to play but her performance against Tin Tin was influenced by the injury and she never really recovered mentally and physically.
Maria would like to publicly acknowledge Emma's understanding and patience while Maria was getting treatment.

The results were:
vs Olivia Churchill  3-0 (4 8 9)
vs Amy Humphries 3-1 (5 7 -9 6)
vs Kayleigh Forster 3-0 (5 10 2)
vs Jazmin Johns 3-0 (5 7 1)
vs Isobel Ashley 3-0 (8 8 9)
vs Ella Patel 3-0 (5 6 3)
vs Lois Peake 3-0 (5 11 3)
vs Emily Bolton 2-3 (-9 5 6 -15 -9)
vs Megan Knowles 3-0 (7 5 8)
vs Emma Torkington 3-2 (-2 2 -11 6 6)
vs Tin Tin Ho 0-3 (3 7 4)

The other aspect of the tournament is that girls being competitive they maintain friendships away from the tables.
