Maria Tsaptsinos

...started playing table tennis during the last year of her primary schooling and then joined Kingfisher club whereas she trained with Brian Halliday and later had weekly sessions with Gareth Herbert. Then she was invited to Lilleshall and Sheffield for the Youth Development Squad and consequently to the International Youth Squad. Represented England in various tournaments since 2012 and participated at the Youth Europeans as a Caded and Junior. In 2015 the first call for a senior cap came for the Europeans and Table Tennis Commonwealth.
Maria currently is a scholar at University of Nottingham studying Geography.
Her other interests include football, music and spends time socialising on facebook.

Junior British League: First Weekend





After two years of representing St Andrews at the Junior British League Maria participated at this years' JBL first weekend in the colours of her local club- Kingfisher. The team consisted of Tin Tin Ho, Maria, Emily Bolton and Shristi Ghosh. Because of Tin Tin's commitment to the senior England team the inexperienced but talented 12 year old Shristi was called up to play as the number three.

Maria's individual statistics at the end of the weekend read as 9 wins out of 10.

Lost 5-1 to Burton Uxbidge with Maria
  • win over Isobel Ashley 8-11 12-10 11-7 11-5
  • lost to Emma Torkington 7-11 16-18 4-11
Drew 3-3 with Wales and Maria's results were
  • win over Laura Edwards 11-6 11-9 11-5
  • win over Beth Roberts 11-3 9-11 11-6 11-8
Lost 4-2 to St Andrews with Maria
  • win over Lois Peake 11-6 11-9 11-6
  • win over Yuki Wat 11-5 11-7 12-10
The team is currently fourth with 4 points despite Maria topping (among other players) the individual averages.
