Maria Tsaptsinos

...started playing table tennis during the last year of her primary schooling and then joined Kingfisher club whereas she trained with Brian Halliday and later had weekly sessions with Gareth Herbert. Then she was invited to Lilleshall and Sheffield for the Youth Development Squad and consequently to the International Youth Squad. Represented England in various tournaments since 2012 and participated at the Youth Europeans as a Caded and Junior. In 2015 the first call for a senior cap came for the Europeans and Table Tennis Commonwealth.
Maria currently is a scholar at University of Nottingham studying Geography.
Her other interests include football, music and spends time socialising on facebook.

Senior County Championships - First Weekend

Over the weekend Maria represented the Berkshire county for the Premier Division Senior County Championships held at Cippenham, near Slough. The team of David Barr, Megan Knowles, Daniel Moses, Liam McTiernan and Maria faced Essex on the Saturday afternoon.









The team won 9-1 overall with Maria recording two wins:
  • vs Sarrah Wang 7 -9 7 -8 7
  • vs Evangeline Collier 10 5 9
 On the Sunday morning, the team minus Liam but replaced by Martin, faced Leicestershire and won 8-2 overall with Maria winning twice:
  • vs Daria Dzierbicka 9 -6 9 10
  • vs Karen Smith 8 9 9
In the afteroon the team drew 5-5 against Glamorgan and Maria continuing her winning streak against her two opponents:
  • vs Beth Roberts 9 9 9
  • vs Nicole Hall -7 10 10 -5 5
